What Does The Clerk’s Office Do?
The County Clerk’s Office plays a vital role in supporting the local justice system and serving the public. The office is responsible for maintaining the official record of Superior Court proceedings, ensuring that all legal documents are accurately filed, preserved, and accessible in accordance with the law.
Core functions include processing court filings for civil, criminal, family law, probate, and juvenile cases; managing court calendars; collecting and disbursing fines, fees, and other payments; and maintaining exhibits and case records. The Clerk’s Office also facilitates appeals to higher courts by preparing and transmitting official records.
In addition to its court-related responsibilities, the office provides direct customer service to the public, attorneys, and partner agencies—assisting with document access and case information. Clerks write minutes for nearly every Superior Court hearing, issue certified copies of records, and support courtroom operations to ensure proceedings run smoothly and efficiently.
Our office also processes passport applications and assists citizens by disseminating passport information.
Above all, the County Clerk’s Office should be committed to accuracy, transparency, and accountability, serving as a trusted steward of the judicial record and a key point of access to the court system for the community.
When elected, you can count on me to ensure these standards are upheld.
